Day in Kyoto

Rokuonji/Kinkakuji

Impossible to take a bad photo of the place.

People everywhere. Host mom with cell.

Random foreigners (who cares)

Chinese Phoenix atop the pavillion

Adorable, hungry little koi.

Tossing coins. Some American lady kept missing, but got it in immediately after my host dad did, and thanked him.

There was no TP in the potty. I took photos outside instead.

August, they light that 'Dai' on the mountain aflame. Too bad I'll miss it.

We each paid 100yen and got to tour the process of making a kimono. The best part was where the lady's name was part of the fabric itself - not embroidery, but in the weave.

We crossed this bridge a few times (as we parked on the other side of it). It's at Arashi-yama, which you see again in week 11.
